My Visual Composer plugin is not working properly, it is not displaying the correct features for editing pages. What’s going on? This is not the first time this has happened.

Hello Andrew,

I have enabled the VC on sermons page but in future want to have VC on any other post type you just need go to VC > Role Manager find Post types > Set as custom and check the post type for which you want enable the VC. Hope you got my point.

Thank you for your response and your help, but why can’t I edit the pages with the backend editor, still using VC? See the attachment.. none of the features shows up for the page I am editing

The issue is causing due to jetpack plugin. If you deactivate the jetpack plugin then vc will work. Kindly following this url and see http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/101933/visual-editor-not-working-when-jetpack-plugin-is-active
