Per the documentation, I enabled threaded (nested) comment 5 levels deep.
Then I changed the permalink structure to “Custom Structure” with /%postname%/.
I uploaded the folders hostmev2 and hostmev2-child to the themes folder via FTP. (The file archive.php in hostmev2 will not upload.)

When I try to activate either the child theme or the parent theme, I get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home2/acey/public_html/itroadmap2015/wp-content/themes/hostmev2/functions.php on line 520

Can you assist me?

Thank you for fixing this first problem. Now, when I try to install the plugins, I get this error message:

I searched for this file advance-options.php in the theme files, but there is nothing by that name there.

1. Can you fix it so I can install the plugins?
2. Can you tell me what you did so I can replicate the fixes in case I ever need to reinstall the theme?
3. Can you set this up to look like the demo site?
