The main menu will not show up on the site. Every time I try to choose it the check boxes get “unchecked” after I save changes.

You have installed the theme in wrong method. You just downloaded the package from themeforest and installed it.

Kindly extract the downloaded package and then read the documentation provided in the package and upload the correct folder then the problem will be solved.
