how do I get the contact form on the “contact us” page to work? I would like to be able to receive an email when a customer completes this form. Currently, when someone tries to use it it states “there was an error trying to send your message. please try again later.”

Make sure you have to set contact form setting. Go to contact > contact forms select which form you are using and you will find all settings. In Mail, setting adds your email.
