    We use WP-Rocket and have noticed a problem that the day’s hours don’t get updated until the cache expires.

    Is there a file(s) we can exclude from caching that will cure this problem?

    Kindly deactivate WP Rocket plugin and then activate and see. Also once clear the cache and see.

    I use WP-Rocket as well. After contact their support, they suggested that I need to create a cron job to run and clear the cache at 12am which is fine for opening hours but I’m not sure about closing time.

    Is this plugin compatible with caching? Does it use JS/AJAX to update the open,close and day status?

    Thanks

    If you can provide us WP Logins to your website with URL then we can take a closer look at it. Make sure you set the post as private reply so that only admin can see your wp-logins.

    I won’t be able to do that. I’m the second person on this board who has reported this issue. Please talk to your developers to see if the day status is updated by JS/AJAX. If it is updated by PHP, then it will not update properly with caching on.

    I also tried to Skype with you and no one responded. VERY FRUSTRATING.

    🙁

    Your status(image) indicates that you are open and you hours indicate that you are closed.

    Sorry to hear about that its confusing topic do you have Skype so that I can be more clear and helpful. Plugin is working as it is said but regarding if its not compatible with the plugin you are using then it takes time to make it compatible or trigger the issue and make patch or a fix or so.

    Fem,
    I appreciated your quick response. I contacted WP-Rocket support and they looked at my site and your plugin code. They said it will not work if the code is using PHP to update the status. From that statement, one can only assume that it will not work with any caching plugin.

    I like your plugin, but I cannot use it if there is an issue with caching. I looked at your site this am and your hours and status was not correct as well.

    The first person reported was not much clear with the Issue and he didn’t get back to us after a reply and what we thought was that its resolved. I just noticed that you give negative ratings as well. Thanks for it. We deserve that, I agree sometimes frustration takes you to do leave that ratings, but the problem is not with ratings if you can be with patience then we would find a solution with it as this is a first issue with a cache. So, your help is appreciated in resolving this issue and contribute sometime in the Skype as we are not much familiar with using WP Rocket Plugin.

    I can change my rating 🙂 I just would like a technical person to give a proper response without days of back and forth on the support forum with no support being offered. It is easy for you to test with a caching plugin. If you are the developer, you understand the issue with PHP caching.

    Thanks

    After a researching the plugin we found that its not an issue with plugin and we uses the PHP function for the status updating. If we would use the cron then it would be possible to auto update the status.

    Caching is storing the page as HTML. The only time the page(cache) will update or change is if the page is saved again. If you can resolve the issue I will be happy and give you a good review and rating!

    @danfeeley

    Hi,
    Until this gets resolved there are several ways of getting it to work with WP-Rocket enabled.
    1. If your hours are on a single page, exclude that from caching
    2. I added a cron in CPanel to run the related PHP scripts every 5 minutes since my hours are in my theme footer.

    There is a way to call the scripts via JS/AJAX, but that is beyond my coding knowledge at the moment.

    Good luck.

    Disregard the cron running since it doesn’t update the cached files.

    Sorry about that.

    @Fem,

    My apologies for not getting back sooner. I was trying to see if I could gather more data between a couple of test sites but this is still absolutely a problem.

    I’m now testing running crons to clear the WP-Rocket cache just after our open and closing hour times(1 minute). WP-Rocket has this posted in their support forums on how to do this.

    I will update…not giving up yet.

    If anyone either danfeeley or xyzb help me providing the WP Logins then we can take a closer look at issue. No one shared the full details till now. Just saying the time is not updating. Updating is for the backend? or time is not refreshing kindly please elaborate your questions with screenshots.

    Hi Fem,
    The back-end appears to be working. The real time status on the front-end(opened-closed, etc.) will not update due to that information being stored in cache. If the cache is updated after the current time and status for that day, then the correct information will be displayed.

    Thanks

    Running the cron from CPanel is updating the open/close/day correctly.

    @Fem
    I was hoping to put together a couple of servers for you to check out but just haven’t had the time. If you would still like to see the problem I can update this thread when I get it done.

    The problem is just as xyzb described. The front-end hours don’t get real-time updated because of the caching.

    If I am not mistaken xyzb is manually clearing wp-rocket’s cache via a cron job just after the hours change. http://docs.wp-rocket.me/article/494-how-to-clear-cache-via-cron-job

    @xyzb

    Not a perfect solution but glad it works. I’ll have to look into it, thanks for testing.

    I have just contacted to WP Rocket for a solution to this issue regarding how to exclude this plugin from being cached. Hopefully I will get a faster and good response.

    The cron runs automatically at my time intervals specified within CPanel. I did contact WP-Rocket last week and they indicated that their software cannot exclude plugins.

    Hi everyone – thank you for getting this thread started!

    @Fem – did you ever hear back from the team at WP Rocket in your post #15042?

    We are experiencing the issue with Business Hours Pro here in December and I know you all were discussing it in June.

    Thanks for any further insight or suggestions you can give if there was indeed a simpler way than the cron in cPanel, etc.
